After 30 x 12 (for C. Reider) by Daniel Barbiero  is a gestural composition for double bass and optional electronics. Individual gestures were drawn from a closed vocabulary of actions to be taken in relation to the sound material, and then organized as discrete events. These events were then arranged sequentially into long-period phrases separated by non-actions. C. Reider contributed a layer of electronics based on a reduction of a live performance using the double bass sounds as a filter....

Stuart Chalmers has been making my own music since 2008. Most of his music now revolves around tape which he has found to be a flexible and expressive tool.   "I created the pieces using 2 old cassette players with tapes along with a few pedals and a synth.  The initial recordings of long improvisations were then edited down or rearranged." Thanks to Daniel Bennett for mastering. Tracklist: 1. Night Passage 2. Dream Within A Dream 3. The Unfathomable Mystery 4. Waking / Rebirth...

These two recordings are very much artefacts of sound, documents of something.  One is a field recording, albeit a staged field, initially to be used in one project but the recordings around it didn't make the cut, then it was transferred to a solo project. Whilst in the solo project a number of layers were added, it missed out on being on one release and then I decided to remix it and most of those layers were removed, until I became comfortable with the concept of leaving it, almost,...

The letters AAS do not stand for anything: they should be pronounced as a word. There is a core group of artists, but they are not AAS. One becomes part of AAS during a project. AAS is a self-producing artwork, creating itself through performance fictions and collective consciousness. Stereo Surrealist , aka Alexx O'Shea, is a collector of instruments and a maker of noises who is interested in many kinds of music. Based in Manchester, she is a regular performer on the free improv scene using various electronic and acoustic instruments. "Both these tracks were created on a Casio SK-5; for Shelduck all the sounds were created with the magic of circuit bending. Violet Light just uses lots of effects pedals (distortion, delay, phaser, flanger, pitch shift)."

Made by J.G. Power-Ballard, Id Vicious and Eno-Obscene-O, at Cafe Abdab, during August 2012. All sounds derived from analog sources: including weather (or not), four scenes rejected for Father Ted, trope of sea light, Crowleyanity, charity shop trumpet and Bach Utensil 911. Digital distortion, or failure, wherever it occurs, is intentional. Dedicated to Annie Dee, with love. murmurists.blogspot.co.uk

Extended technique? Amplified silence? Violin, Bow, and Case is an exercise in sculptural minimalism, using a simple contact mic to capture sounds from the titular items that are as far from the "proper" use as possible. Alex Charles is a Scottish musician living in Birmingham, UK. His music explores layering small audio events into three dimensional webs of circling loops, generating their own internal rhythm and shapes. Alex's Website

"I eventually decided to create a 'cut-up' edit of some recordings I made earlier this year of the Romney Hyde & Dymchurch Railway. Despite a gentle start, it's rough and raw and not really my normal style of subtlety and sonic purity, more of an environmental noise art work, clicks, glitches, overloads and all. Ten tracks of train recordings rough cut together and playing simletaneously." Dallas Simpson has spent over 10 years involved with recording and performing binaural...
